COOK BOOK SERIES
De Su Cocina a la Mía
These photographs were created as a part of a cook book dedicated to my Abuelita. The book serves to show my gratitude for her unwavering commitment to nourish us with her food and love. These dinnerware sets become a ceremonial depiction of my grandmother’s legacy as our matriarch; exploring a parallel between the perishable nature of food and the temporal nature of my grandmother’s teachings. It brings into permanence what might have been lost with her death, further solidifying the necessity of its existence.
This project, as a collaborative effort, showcases my grandmothers recipes alongside my dinnerware. The vessels are inspired by traditional Mexican ceramics from Michoacán and Puebla. This pairing of traditional pottery comments on the deep history of class and cultures in Mexico as well as in my own family lineage.
